A common situation occurs when users want to see what kind of results they can get when they run a LANSA Client query, but they don't want to retrieve all the records that meet the selection criteria.
The Maximum Records feature can be used to restrict the query to say only 10 records to get an idea of what data will be retrieved. This is very useful if the user is unsure of the format of the data that is to be used in a query with prompted values, for example whether characters are upper or lower case.
This feature can also be used to get only a subset of the data to produce a sample report for checking the layout.
